H7N9 update: 120 cases! The more you’re exposed, the greater your chances of getting sick!

28 April 2013 (00:51 UTC-07 Tango)/17 Jumada t-Tania 1434/08 Ordibehest 1392/19 Bing-Chen (3rd month) 4711

The Chinese province of Hunan reporting its first human case.  A 64 years old woman became sick with pneumonia after working with poultry. She’s in critical condition, but improving.

Travel agencies in Taiwan reporting a 30% drop in bookings to mainland China, after a Taiwan man came back from China sick with H7N9.

On top of that, potential visitors to Taiwan, from Japan, have also been canceling their trips: “…the number of tour groups composed of Japanese corporate employees has declined remarkably.”-Mori Chen, Star Express

Researchers in Canada think the reason so many old men are getting sick, is because of their life long exposure to H7 strains of the flu, as a result of their work with poultry.  A similar antibody-dependent enhancement has been confirmed with dengue fever, and studies have shown that lab animals exposed to flu are more likely to finally get sick than “influenza-naïve animals”.

Basically the more you come into contact with a disease the weaker your immune system gets, even you if you never show symptoms: “…..we should also stay open to the possibility that pre-existing cross-reactive antibodies may actually facilitate the viral infection process, a phenomenon best recognised for dengue through the mechanism of antibody dependent enhancement.”-Danuta M. Skowronski, British Columbia Centre for Disease Control, Virus-host interactions and the unusual age and sex distribution of human cases of influenza A(H7N9) in China, April 2013

Influenza update, 31 March 2013: New killer H7N9! More people dying of Swine Flu! Government cover up! Flu season twice as long as last year’s! Preps underway for pandemic! More studies say vaccine is bad for you!

China is reporting two people dead, caused by the latest type of bird flu, H7N9.  The UN World Health Organization (WHO) says the human deaths in China are the first in the world for this type of bird flu.  Two men in Shanghai (the same place where thousands of dead pigs were pulled from the river, some reports say as many as 3300) became the first people known to get infected with H7N9 bird flu, and it killed them fast.  A third person is infected, a woman, and she in in the hospital in critical condition.

In the recent past health officials were concerned with H5N1 bird flu, but H7N9 looks to be more lethal, now that it’s jumping to humans.

On top of the dead pigs in the Huangpu River, Chinese have also been pulling thousands of dead ducks out of the Pengshan/Nanhe River.

In Australia, two people died at a old folks home in Queensland. There was an outbreak of flu.  14 people were infected with flu A.  Seven were hospitalized and 15 employees became sick as well.  This is just the beginning of the flu season Down Under.

In Pakistan, flu has made an appearance by killing a doctor.  Recently a surgeon at the Holy Family Hospital died.  Nurses at the hospital complain that only doctors are given gloves and masks, while they and ward boys go unprotected.  Pakistan’s National Institute of Health said the doctor’s death was the result of his being treated for allergies with steroids which weakened his immune system.  There have been five deaths related to other types of flus as well.

In the country of Georgia, health officials reporting 22 deaths connected to both versions of H1N1 bird and swine flu.

In India, more deaths being reported.  A woman just died from H1N1 swine flu in the state of Gujarat.  Gujarat and Rajasthan are dealing with the most cases of swine flu.  In all of India, from 01 January to 24 March there have been at least 445 human deaths caused by swine flu!  But wait, there’s more!  Gujarat is expecting thousands of religious pilgrims for two days of religious celebrations, and the fear is swine flu will spread like wildfire.  They’ve even called up 2500 law enforcement/health personnel: “Following the alert we have in all set up 16 stalls of which 6 will be in Dakor while 10 will be on the routes leading to the holy place. We will keep an eye on people who may have swine flu like symptoms and will convince them to return.”HF Patel, district health officer of Kheda

Despite the obvious epidemic in India, the Indian Council of Medical Research actually ordered state health officials to treat swine flu as a normal seasonal flu.  This brought condemnation and accusations of government cover up from the High Court in Gurjarat, the hardest hit state.   The Gurjarat High Court is basing their case on the number of prisoner requests to visit sick and dying relatives, which has skyrocketed, and the fact that even doctors are dying.  The court gave local health officials until 09 April to present a detailed report of cases.  A judge blasted the poor conditions of government run hospitals: “Even for patients there are no beds in hospitals, what rain basera [guest beds?] for their relatives? This is an eye-wash! They are sleeping outside the Civil Hospital. And health and hygiene are worst in government hospitals.”

In United Kingdom, reports say swine flu is resistant to treatment with Tamiflu. A study done in collaboration with UN WHO and Australian researchers, shows a small increase in swine flu that is resistant to Tamiflu.  But the big worry is that most of the patients in the study had never been treated with Tamiflu before, which means they caught a swine flu that had become resistant to Tamiflu on its own.

In Sweden, researchers confirmed that the swine flu vaccine, Pandemrix, causes narcolepsy.  The government ordered the Swedish Medical Products Agency (Läkemedelsverket) to do the study, when more than a hundred people developed the sleeping disorder after getting the flu shot.  The study found that the younger you are the more chance of getting narcolepsy from Pandemrix.

In Republic of Ireland, people are protesting the Health Minister, because of increased cases of narcolepsy in children. Last April the Minister issued the results of their own study which showed swine flu vaccine causes narcolepsy. Some Irish families are now suing GlaxoSmith-Kline, the maker of Pandemrix.

Speaking of vaccines, in Texas U.S.A., A&M University announced it’s joining with pharmaceutical companies to help prepare for a influenza pandemic.  They are helping to create and run a $91 million USD vaccine factory. The goal is to be able to produce 50 million doses within four months of a pandemic outbreak!

In Belgium, health officials announced the worst of their flu season has past. They said the epidemic lasted 12 weeks, compared to only six weeks last year.  At the peak of the epidemic 1083 people sought medical help.

The U.S. Centers for the Disease Control and Prevention says the dominate strain of influenza is now flu B.

Measles making a come back, new Rubella virus attacking adults? Japan sees 22% increase in cases! Vaccine proves to be temporary!

31 March 2013/19 Jumada l-Ula 1434/11 Farvardin 1391/20 Yi-Mao (2nd month) 4711

More than 12 months ago Japanese media warned of the growing number of Rubella/German Measles cases.  Reports said that there were significant increases in the previous three years involving adult cases, and most people who got sick were men.  Now, Japanese media reporting a 22% increase in adult cases in the first eleven weeks of Gregorian year 2013.

In January 2012 there were 19 reported cases in Japan, in January 2013 there were 254 cases!  Compare that to the yearly average, between 2008-2011, of 288.

Rubella can be spread through the air, by coughing, sneezing or just simple breathing.

Rubella will cause birth defects in pregnant women, and there have been increased cases of pregnant women in Japan getting sick and giving birth to children with defects, such as holes in their hearts or deafness and/or blindness.

Rubella/3 Day Measles is often thought of as a childhood disease, but what’s been happening in many Asian countries is that more and more adults are getting infected. People in Japan are being told to get vaccinated before they travel outside of their country, even if they got vaccinated as children, because it turns out that the vaccine is only temporary: “For some people, the concentration of antibodies may decrease even if they’ve been vaccinated in the past…”-Katsuhiro Komase, Japan’s Infectious Disease Surveillance Center

The problem in Japan is that the vaccine is not free, people wanting the shot must pay $50 to $100 per shot.  Some local governments are trying subsidize the vaccinations.

Another problem is that back in 1993 Japan banned the three shot MMR (mumps, measles, rubella combo) vaccine, because many children had severe reactions to it, such as non-viral meningitis.  Japan uses a vaccine specifically for rubella.

Japanese health officials have traced most virus samples back to Thailand, Vietnam and Philippines.  Vietnam has ordered a major eradication program.

Since 2011 Vietnam has been dealing with the new rubella.  By the end of 2011 50% of all abortions performed were because of severe birth defects as a result of rubella infection.   A recently published study by Vietnamese health officials said: “Rubella virus identified in Vietnam belonged to the genotype 2B. Importantly, the infection rate of rubella virus in fetuses/newborns was 100%….”

The Philippines started having trouble with rubella in 2010.  By 2011 the government started a door to door vaccination program. Recently the British Colombia Centre for Disease Control, in Canada, reported cases of rubella that were all “…compatible with acquisition during travel to the Philippines.”

In 2012, a rubella/measles outbreak in several European countries was blamed on people coming back from trips to Thailand.

In India, health officials there are now telling women who plan to get pregnant to get vaccinated at least three months prior.

In the United States, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention revealed that there were three cases of newborns affected by rubella in 2012, the first time since 2008.   The U.S. was even declared rubella free in 2004.

The biggest risk is for the unborn children of pregnant women.  U.S. health officials say women should not get the vaccine while pregnant.  Women should wait at least 28 days after getting the shot before getting pregnant.  If adults are not sure if they’ve been vaccinated, they can have their blood tested to see if they have immunity to rubella.

U.S. Influenza update, 21 February 2013: As I’ve been saying Flu vaccines don’t work, now CDC agrees! No more Tamiflu OS!!! New cases of horse flu! New cases of the new Bird flu! Your politicians spreading the disease!

21 February 2013/10 Raby’ ath-Thani 1434/03 Esfand 1391

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released the results of their own vaccine study, and it has them shocked!

First off, for overall effectiveness this year’s vaccine is 56% effective, not 62% effective as has been claimed since the beginning of the season.  Secondly, when you break it down by flu strain and the age of the victim, things get worse.

The vaccine is only 9% effective in preventing influenza strain A in people 65 years of age or older!

So far this season almost 9,000 people have been hospitalized because of the flu, the majority are old people and includes those who got flu shots!

To help support my previous claims against vaccines (that the virus mutates too fast for vaccines to be effective), the University of Louisville recently released preliminary results of their ongoing study of the H1N1 pandemic of 2009-10.  They found that each person’s immune system reacted differently to H1N1 (a type of flu A): “This study underscores the potential variability in the virulence of 2009 H1N1 influenza A strains circulating in Kentucky during the pandemic. These data suggest the hypothesis that the high severity of disease seen in certain hospitalized patients may be related to infection with H1N1pdm viral variants that, due to cell tropism and replication levels, may exacerbate certain types of disease associated with comorbidity.”

Minnesota Department of Health reporting 12 new flu deaths. The total for the North Star State is now 148 deaths.  Last week five nursing homes, and nine schools reported outbreaks.

In South Dakota, a 6th grader was the latest person to die. He died from flu A, the type of flu the vaccine has proven to not work on.

The maker of Tamiflu, the anti-flu medicine, says get the children’s version (Tamiflu OS) while you can, ’cause they ain’t makin’ anymore: “…we have shipped all quantities of Tamiflu OS to distributors, some retail pharmacies may still have it…….Given the amount of time it takes to manufacture Tamiflu OS, we don’t plan to make more for the 2012/13 flu season, as it wouldn’t be ready in time.”-Tara Iannuccillo, Genentech

Canadian scientists claim they have a new drug against flu: “Our drug agent uses the same approach as current flu treatments, by preventing neuraminidase from cutting its ties with the infected cell. But our agent latches onto this enzyme like a broken key, stuck in a lock, rendering it useless.”-Steve Withers, University of British Columbia

Oklahoma State Department of Health reporting 26 flu deaths.

In Michigan, Ottawa County reporting double the number of lab confirmed flu cases compared to 2010-11, and five times higher than last year.   So far 20,000 people in the County have complained of flu related illnesses.

Pennsylvania Department of Health reporting that flu related visits to doctors and hospitals are going down. At this point 154 people died.

New Jersey officials say flu is alive and well in their state: “We still do have high influenza-like illness activity throughout our state.”-Tina Tan, State Epidemiologist

The New York State Health Department is reporting fewer cases of flu.  That is, there were fewer cases of people going to the hospital because of the flu, but, the number of people making flu related doctor visits is unchanged.  Also, the number of kids dying from flu has gone up, now eight children have died in New York.  Pediatric deaths make up 38% of lab confirmed flu cases in the Empire State.  There have been 484 outbreaks.  Health officials do not track adult flu related deaths.

Health officials in Colorado are warning that March could be a bad month for flu cases: “March historically is an active time for the flu locally, so we can’t say for sure that the flu season is over.”-Tamara Capp, Mesa County Health Department

In San Diego, California, County health officials are reporting decreased cases.  San Diego got hit hard, with 4,175 lab confirmed cases and 40 deaths.  The flu season isn’t over. For some reason State officials are still reporting far fewer deaths, for the entire state, than whats being reporting in San Diego County.

The next time you hear an “official” telling you not to go to work if you’re sick, tell them its time they take their own medicine!  In Virginia there have been a number of cases of elected officials ending up in the hospital, because they continue to go to work when they are sick:  “Almost no matter what, you’ve got to try to be here every day. This time of year, we’ve got all these bills coming across, and some of them are 20-20 votes.”-Jeffrey L. McWaters, State Senator

The Wall Street Journal reported that flu season is good for OJ.  Orange Juice that is.  The WSJ reported that not only is OJ sales up, but that it’s the older people who’re gulping the citrus juice down.

In Oregon, veterinarians are warning horse owners after a horse came down with equine influenza.  It’s being treated at Oregon State University, the horse originally came from Texas.  This time of year is not good for horses and flu: “Equine influenza is especially dangerous to foals and the foaling season just started.”-Keith Poulsen, OSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine.

Flu season recently began in Europe, and the United Kingdom is reporting a doubling of cases in the past two weeks (fortnight).

In Mexico, nine new outbreaks of H7N3 being reported, this time in the state of Guanajuato.  So far 34,889 chickens have died and 53,553 are infected in these latest outbreaks.  Get ready for chicken and egg prices to go up, as this new H7N3 has killed hundreds of thousands of poultry in Mexico since last year.

In Cambodia, a seventh person has died because of bird flu. The 20 months old boy was the eighth Cambodian to be infected with the H5N1 version of bird flu, so far this year.

Bird flus rarely infect humans, but when they do they have an extremely high kill rate.

U.S. Influenza: CDC issues warning, three people already dead in Idaho! Schools being shut down! Connection to West Nile?

“Significant increases in flu activity in the U.S. in the last two weeks indicate that an early flu season is underway.”-U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

04 December 2012, the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare reporting that three women have died from flu, or flu like symptoms.  They’re the first deaths reported, and CDC officials say the flu season started early: “It looks like it’s shaping up to be a bad flu season…..We’re seeing the beginning of the uptick start at least a month before we’d generally see it.”-Thomas Frieden, CDC

In North Carolina it’s being reported that more hospitals are ordering their staff to get vaccinated for the flu or face the loss of their jobs.

Mississippi is the first state to report “high” levels of flu.  Louisiana and Alabama are reporting “moderate” levels of flu.   Tennessee and Texas reporting higher than normal flu case levels.  Note that most of these states also got hit hard by West Nile virus.

Kentucky is officially reporting 60 possible cases: “Primarily, the concern at this point is that we are seeing cases earlier in the flu season than we typically do.”-LaQuandra Nesbitt, Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness

However, Kentucky and Tennessee school districts are reporting hundreds of students out sick, causing the schools to lose money.  Kentucky law requires schools to maintain at least 90% student attendance, but because of flu some schools are down to 81%.  A Kentucky doctor says sick students are being reported in the hundreds: “It’s more than just county wide. I think the joining counties in Tennessee. I heard Macon County had 500 students out. That’s huge numbers.  Our waiting room yesterday was terrible. We had people waiting out in their cars with their cell phones, and we would call them when it was there turn to get in.”-William Carter, Tompkinsville doctor

Doctor Carter also said it looks like vaccinations are not working: “A 90 year old who had a flu shot ended up with both A and B, so I don’t know if the flu shots are working completely with this string that’s going around.”

In Tennessee, two schools are closing down because of the flu. University School of Jackson and the Trinity Christian Academy will close on Wednesday, in hopes of halting any spread of flu.

Health officials in Onondaga County, in New York, reporting a huge jump in lab confirmed flu cases; 210 last week, up from 95 the week before. For comparison, county health officials said during last year’s flu season they averaged only 40 cases per week.

H3N2 Swine Flu spreading through the United States, children main targets, despite 2011-2012 flu season being officially ended

“So as of today, there are 145 confirmed cases of influenza infection with H3N2v virus, since the current outbreaks began in July of this year.  This includes one case in Hawaii, one case in Illinois, 113 cases being reported from Indiana, and 30 cases being reported from Ohio.  This is clearly a significant increase since last week’s total….”-Joseph Bresee, CDC

09 August 2012, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reporting that cases of H3N2v are now at 145 in the U.S.

Most of the current U.S. cases are in the mid west (some cases in Hawaii), with 90% of the infected people being children.  The CDC also believes there is a direct connection with pigs, and are asking people to avoid pigs if possible.

The H3N2v strain is a new version that showed up last year, and has been spreading around the World.

At the end of May 2012, the CDC warned that H3N2v was already the dominant flu, making up 60% of World cases.  But, the end of May is also when the CDC  announced the winding down of an unusually weak 2011-2012 flu season (weak for the U.S. that is): “This is the first time since CDC started this kind of influenza like surveillance (ILI) that the percentage of patient visits for ILI was elevated for only one week of the season.”-Joseph Bresee, CDC, May 2012

H3N2 Update, 29 May 2012: Dominant Flu. Season ending in the North (but not for Hong Kong), beginning in South. New vaccine required.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that of the type A viruses hitting the Northern Hemisphere, H3N2 made up 60%.

Two deaths in the U.S. were reported in May, one from type B virus, the other was H3N2.

The U.S. CDC, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), and the UN World Health Organization (WHO) say influenza cases are declining in the Northern Hemisphere, as the flu season ends, but are expecting flu cases to increase in the Southern Hemisphere, as the flu season is officially beginning there.

Already the WHO is reporting that 86.6% of recent type A influenza cases, in the South, are H3N2.

The WHO also reporting that the H3N2 cases in the Northern Hemisphere showed rapid changes in the virus, meaning a new vaccine is needed.

As the flu season begins in the Southern Hemisphere, New Zealand is reporting that people there are scrambling to get vaccinated.  So far more than 910,000 New Zealanders have been vaccinated.

Flu season might be officially ending in the Northern Hemisphere, but don’t tell that to Hong Kong health officials.  The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) says the number of flu cases there are still high, with H3N2 making up 88.1% of recent cases in the weeks from 21 April to 12 May. Health officials in Hong Kong say the reason is that the new strain of H3N2 renders the vaccine useless!

The CHP reports at least 92 flu related deaths between 13 January and 14 May.

War on Terror shifts to War on Flu. Politicians opposed were removed before votes were cast! New law says who will get help and who won’t!

April 27, 2012, Japan’s Diet (parliament) has passed a bill that allows near martial law like conditions in response to a major epidemic.

The Japanese government can now set up a special task force to deal with an outbreak of unusually virulent influenza.  A state of emergency can be declared if the epidemic threatens the economy.

The special task force can decide who will be given priority for medical help! Education can be suspended, and public gatherings and events restricted.

Something else to be concerned about, this law was passed only because all those politicians that opposed it were not present in the parliament, including members of the Liberal Democratic Party.

Japanese media says the law passed with a majority of the votes, but that’s a given when all those opposed were not present.

The committee that debated the bill warned that provisions should be added that protected individual liberties, and that the special task force should be required to heed the advise of medical experts.

Note: Japan is part of the Trilateral Commission (Europe, North America, Japan/Asia)

H1N1: More cases & deaths in India. British politicians cut health budget, the result is more deaths. Canada, Mexico & U.S. to create cross border Flu response

In a case of government incompetence, the Indian state of Karnataka has decided it was time for family doctors to start addressing the rising cases of swine flu.  This after confirmed cases hit 126 on April 12, 2012.

“The role of general practitioners is important now because treatment can be effective only if it is started on time. We have adequate stocks of Tamiflu, the only anti-viral drug for A(H1N1) and vaccines. But the medicines can be effective only if they are administered on time.”-Chandrashekar Malagi, State Health Department

Seven people have died in the state of Karnataka.

In another example of local government incompetence, state health officials have decided against H1N1 screenings at the Bengaluru International Airport!

Most airports in India are screening for the virus, that’s because the whole country is experiencing an epidemic of H1N1.

However, the government of India is trying to calm the public by saying the worst is over, at least in the district of Pune (state of Maharashtra): “It is true that the positive cases are lesser in past few days in Pune district. This is in line with reports that virologists and experts had arrived that the surge in cases is likely to abate in 2-3 weeks.”– Pradeep Awate, Central Health Ministry

The Indian state of Gujarat has just reported its 6th case of H1N1.

In the city of Nashik, state of Maharashtra, two people died.  City health officials are taking no chances there, opening six new H1N1 screening centers.

47 people have so far been screened in Nashik, 11 are now in the hospital.

In Mumbai, state of Maharashtra, a 23 year old woman died on April 13.

On April 5, 2012, it was reported that British health officials’ lax response to H1N1 outbreaks resulted in more deaths that during the 2009-2010 outbreak!

The report blamed British politicians who said public health funding was a waste of money and cut the budgets!  The result of the budget cutting is; 10% more hospital admissions, 30% more deaths, and 30% more ICU admissions.

On April 4, 2012, officials from United States, Canada and Mexico announced they are working together to create a cross border flu response system.

“…the three countries will work together and with international organizations to develop guidance for influenza surveillance systems for select animal species, as well as guidance on the characterization, case definition, and reporting of novel strains, and on triggers for public health response.”  also “…exploring new financing and procurement mechanisms, investments in new and more flexible technology and manufacturing platforms, and coordinating plans for preparedness exercises. The plan also touches on sharing best practices for stockpiling.” also “…identify legal and regulatory challenges for helping each other with personnel and medical countermeasures in a public health emergency.” -CIDRAP

Medical Good or Evil: New electrical DNA driven synthetic flu vaccines, from company connected to Homeland Security

A company called Inovio Pharmaceuticals, has just received U.S. patent rights to  new synthetic flu vaccines, and their new vaccine delivery system.

The vaccines are “DNA-driven”, and operate by “electroporation technology”.

Electroporation, or electropermeabilization, is a significant increase in the electrical conductivity and permeability of the cell plasma membrane caused by an externally applied electrical field. It is usually used in molecular biology as a way of introducing some substance into a cell, such as loading it with a molecular probe, a drug that can change the cell’s function, or a piece of coding DNA.”Wikipedia

DNA-driven reaction: “A lab technique to mark highly repeated DNA sequences with a radioactive RNA tracer, by having a much larger amount of complementary DNA molecules than radioactive RNA tracer molecules.”Lexic

Inovio claims their vaccines increase immune response four times more than standard vaccines.  This is due in part to their use of synthesized versions of various flu virus proteins, but mainly by introducing the vaccine at the DNA level.

The vaccine is coaxed into your cellular DNA through some form of electrical stimulation on your skin. Inovio claims that you get a better immune response when your body is threatened at the DNA level.

They have a universal influenza vaccine, called INO-3510, as well as a vaccine for H5N1, called VGX-3400X.  INO is entering Phase 1 testing.  Inovio claims VGX was successful in Phase 1 testing, with what they consider positive results for 72% of the test subjects.

This sounds good; vaccines that will finally stop the common cold, or flues?  But think about the DNA-driven part of it. Scientists have come up with a way that could be used to alter your DNA!

Here’s something else to be suspicious about, Inovio is working with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Science and Technology Directorate Plum Island Animal Disease Center.

The primary/official mission of the Plum Island Center is to prevent foreign diseases from entering the United States.  Inovio has signed a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement with Homeland Security to create synthetic DNA vaccines for animals.

The following quotes, made in December 2007, are from J. Craig Venter, a DNA pioneer:

“…I will argue that the future of life depends not only in our ability to understand and use DNA, but also, perhaps in creating new synthetic life forms, that is, life which is forged not by Darwinian evolution but created by human intelligence.”

“The genetic code will give us probabilities about disease risk and the ability to understand environmental factors linked to genetics.  Will governments, businesses and insurance companies pay the smaller amount in advance to prevent disease?”

“Our ability to read the genetic code is changing even faster than changes predicted by Moore’s Law.”

“…we described the ability to take a chromosome from one bacterium and place it into a second bacterial cell.  The result was astonishing, the new DNA that we added changed the species completely from the original one into the species defined by the added DNA. You could describe this as the ultimate in identity theft.”

“Now they can happen not just by random chance but by deliberate human design and selection.  Human thought and design and specific selection is now replacing Darwinian evolution.”

“Right now extensively modified bacteria are being used to make food additives and industrial chemicals.”
