What Economic Recovery: City desperate for cash approves Marijuana farming

A city, trying to deal with more than 20% unemployment, has turned to allowing  cannabis for cash!

So far there’s no comment from the federal government, that’s because in this country growing pot is legal (within limits).

The country is Spain!  Officials with the city of Rasquera, in Catalonia, have signed a deal that’s estimated to bring in U.S. $1.6 million to their local economy!

But it’s not just marijuana: ”The produce will only go to members of the association and it won’t all be cannabis. There will be crop rotation with cereal and sugar beet.”-Bernat Pellisa, Mayor of Rasquera

The deal will make Rasquera the largest legal pot growing area in all Europe!

World War 3: 26% of English support Scottish Independence! Spain supports Scotland! Argentina will back Scotland’s fight for Independence!

A survey by NatCen Social Research British Social Attitudes, shows that 26% of the English support the separation of Scotland from the United Kingdom!

But that doesn’t mean the English like Scotts, no, it shows there is growing hatred of them!

31% say Scotland should no longer be allowed to vote on English policies.  44% say Scotland gets too much taxpayer money.

Scotland’s Humza Yousaf, a SNP (Scottish national Party) MSP (Member Scottish Parliament) for Glasgow, says the English are Incompetent: “The idea that Scotland gets more than its fair share of U.K. Government spending is…factually wrong…”

However, Yousaf says: “Independence for Scotland makes sense for all the people of Scotland and England.”

Over to mainland Europe: Spanish Foreign Minister, Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo, has confirmed that his country will vote for an independent Scotland to become a member of the European Union!

Then way down South America way, Argentina has voiced support for Scotland’s independence. President Cristina Kirchner might send an official delegation to help Scotland celebrate the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn, marking the victory of Robert the Bruce over the English in 1314.

Some analysts say the move is a way for Argentina to cause trouble in England’s backyard, if war were to break out over the Falklands/Malvinas Islands.

World War 3: Iranian media reports suggest that Iran is about to cut off oil to 6 European countries, lack of Human Rights in Europe being blamed

February 15, 2012, confusing reports in the Iranian media.  Unofficial sources (like PressTV, it is not an official Iranian media source) are saying that Iran has blocked oil shipments to six European countries.

However, official sources (like Islamic Republic News Agency [IRNA]) say only that ambassadors from six European countries have been summed to the Iranian government, to discuss “issues”.

The six countries are Italy, Spain, France, Greece, Portugal, and Netherlands.

The IRNA is quoting Iran’s Director General of West Europe Affaires at Foreign Ministry, Hassan Tajik: “Our response is that sanctions cannot affect Iranians’ will, rather, it will have an adverse impact on European people. Europe is in a difficult economic condition and is facing a harsh winter. Iran cannot remain indifferent towards EU oil ban. We do not have any problem in terms of finding customers for our oil and selling it to other countries. However, based on humanitarian policies and given the conditions of European countries, we have decided to send a serious message to the Europeans which are parties to oil contracts. We can instantly replace oil customers.”

In other words it seems like Iran has identified which European countries it would cut off, and has given them warning, but they have not actually cut off the oil at this point.

It’s interesting that Iran is implying that violation of human rights within Europe is a main factor in their decision to possibly cut off the oil.

White Horse & World War 3: U.K. and Argentina heading for Second Falklands War, major oil find could change the minds of U.S. leaders

Argentine Foreign Minister, Hector Timerman, demanded that the United Kingdom “…refrain from this military escalation that they are carrying out in the South Atlantic with the introduction of the latest generation of warships and warplanes, and dispatching a nuclear submarine with the capacity to unload nuclear weapons.”

While some British officials say the sending of Royal Navy ships to the Falklands (Malvinas) Islands is in response to Argentina’s growing demand to return the islands to Argentine control, other British officials say the move to send warships was planned long ago.

In any case the United Nations is asking the two countries to settle the issue peacefully: “The secretary general expressed concern about the increasingly strong exchanges between the governments of Argentina and the United Kingdom on this issue. He expressed the hope that the governments of Argentina and the United Kingdom will avoid an escalation of this dispute and resolve differences peacefully and through dialogue.”

In the 1990s. Argentina’s constitution was changed to make retaking of the Malvinas, from the British, a constitutional requirement.

Disputes over who controls the Falklands goes back to the late 1700s, and involves France, Spain and the United States, as well as Argentina and Britain.  This latest dispute is being exacerbated by the fact that oil has been discovered there.

If war were declared, the U.K. would find it a little more difficult to fight, than in the 1982 war, because several major South American countries have indicated they will help Argentina fight the British.

“The recovery of Malvinas Islands on part of Argentina is a fact that joins countries like Peru…It is part of our identity; there is a piece of colonial territory in these islands that still remains in South America.”-Rafael Roncagliolo, Foreign Minister of Peru

“…back Argentine sovereignty over the Malvinas and back the UN resolutions calling on the Argentine and British governments to hold talks on the issue…”-Antonio Patriota, Foreign Minister of Brazil

“I’m speaking only for Venezuela, but if it occurs to the British Empire to attack Argentina, Argentina won’t be alone this time.”-Hugo Chavez, President of Venezuela

What does the United States have to say about this?  Basically the same thing they said in 1982: “Our position remains the same. This is a problem between two of our partners. We do not want to change our position…”-Roberta Jacobson, Acting U.S. Assistant Secretary for Western Hemisphere Affairs

However, a recent huge oil find might change the stance of U.S. leaders.  Because a major U.S. oil company, Anadarko, wants to get involved with the British company that discovered the huge oil field.

Anadarko wants to invest $1.5 billion into the British company Rockhopper: “A deal has been tabled. Anadarko has got approval to do this from the highest levels in the U.S., and they’ve been reassured the British will stand by the islands.”-unnamed British source

Anadarko was involved with British Petroleum and the Gulf of Mexico oil spill in 2010.  The British media says Anadarko has connections to the Pentagon because it’s current Board of Directors include Kevin Chilton, a former commander of U.S. Strategic Command, and Preston M “Pete” Geren III, who worked in the U.S. Department of Defense for at least ten years.

I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest.

Global Economic War: Global Sovereign Open Fund dumping European bonds

Not even a week after it was revealed that the biggest insurance companies in Japan were dumping their European bonds, a major Japanese investment firm reveals it is doing the same.

Kokusai Asset Management says it has sold off all Italian, Spanish and Belgian bonds that were part of its Global Sovereign Open Fund!

The Global Sovereign Open Fund is the largest in Japan, with about U.S.$26 billion in assets.  Kokusai Asset Management says the European bonds they sold off had already lost 8% of their value from the previous year.

What Economic Recovery? Japanese life insurance companies dump European bonds

As a sign of how bad things are getting for European countries, it’s just been revealed that eight major Japanese life insurance companies are dumping their sovereign debt (bonds) from Italy, Ireland, Greece, Portugal and Spain.

All together, the Japanese companies sold off 44% of their bonds, by the end of October.  According to Japanese media, two of the eight insurance companies sold off all their Italian bonds!

What Economic Recovery? Spanish teachers and students protesting in the thousands

“Since the democratic transition in Spain, we have not seen such a hard attack on social services and essential public services. This is an attack by Madrid’s regional government against employment and public education.”-Cayo Lara

Spain’s attempts to pay down its debt has seen huge cuts to education spending, at least 13,000 temporary teachers will lose their jobs.

The public school system in Spain has never had a good track record: One of Europe’s highest dropout rates with nearly 30% of students under the age of 16.

More education strikes are planned for September 20 & 21.

Government Incompetence: Spanish taxpayers forced to pay for Catholic Pope’s visit

“We criticize this scandalous show at a time of such a terribly distressing economic situation, with entire families unemployed.”-Evaristo Villar, Christian Networks

The Pope is visiting Spain, and the taxpayers are paying for it, to tune of U.S.$70 million to $150 million.  This comes at a time when 20% of Spaniards are unemployed.

One protestor called the Pope’s visit a “huge Christian circus”.

72% of Spaniards claim to be Catholic, but that’s not stopping younger Catholics from joining the protests.  However, Catholics have also joined riot police in attacking protestors: “I was at the protest with my father, and one of the Catholics punched me in the face.” 18 year-old protester

When you break down Spain’s unemployment by age, 45% of teenagers and young adults are jobless.

Evita Peron’s crown jewels recovered

Former First Lady of Argentina, Evita Peron, died in 1952.  The Dutch Royal family gave Evita the jewels as a gift.  They’re worth about $9 million.

In 2009 her ‘crown jewels’ were sent to a Spanish jeweler, but were stolen by a Serbian base criminal organization.

Spanish and Italian police found the jewels in a Milan hotel.  The hotel was being staked out because police believed it was being run by the crime gang.  So far seven people have been arrested.

NATO preps to attack Syria, Germany & Spain increasing NATO troops in Turkey

A Turkish news source says the Turkish government has agreed to allow NATO to increase troop strength in Turkey.  Turkey is a member of NATO.

Currently there are about 400 NATO personnel at the Turkish Izmir Air Station, but that could increase to the thousands as NATO personnel from Germany and Spain are moved in.

Western media is showing Turkey as helping Syrian refugees, and seemingly taking a neutral stand on events in Syria.  Reports in Middle Eastern news sources say otherwise.  There is growing evidence that the weapons being used by Syrian “protestors” are coming from Turkey.  Several times Turkish warplanes have crossed into Syrian airspace.

NATO is reporting the build up of personnel in Turkey as part of plans to “…make NATO leaner, more flexible, and better able to deal with future challenges.”-Anders Fogh Rasmussen, NATO Secretary General
