Hurricane prep 2021: ‘Near Shore Experiment’ proves scientists still don’t have a clue!

“To better protect our coastal communities we need to better model, understand and predict the complex and dynamic nearshore environment.”-Brittany Bruder, U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center

Duck, North Carolina, where a major weather research project has been ongoing since 2019.

It has been more than 130 years since modern weather science started, yet even after decades of collecting hurricane data within the United States, scientists still don’t understand the weather!

An ancient U.S. Army Corps of Engineers LARC-V is used to carry a remote control boat (oceanographic research drone) for the DuNEx.

An attempt to rectify that will officially begin in Autumn 2021, on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It is called the During Nearshore Event Experiment (DuNEx), or DUring Nearshore Event eXperiment (DUNEX), being conducted by the U.S. Coastal Research Program.  It would’ve happened sooner but there was a “…delay in their planning and preparation for the upcoming… …DUNEX field experiment due to the COVID-19 pandemic.”

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers photo.

Preparations for DuNEx 2021 have been ongoing since 2019, and the whole thing is not expected to conclude until Winter 2022!  The goal is to be better able to predict what a storm will do, and to advise coastal communities on short-term and long-term plans of action.

Turned out it was just a ‘typhoon mitigation rehearsal’.  Basically the soldiers just grabbed their shit and ran for the nearest secure shelter.

On Camp Foster, Okinawa, Japan, U.S. Marines dug in for the 2021 Typhoon season: “Today we handed out upwards of 3-thousand-5-hundred MRE’s. We have been preparing all week, and it has been a daunting task, but as Marines we are and have to be prepared for anything that comes our way.”-Private First Class Anthony Prophet, Marine Wing Support Squadron 172, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing

Marines on Camp Foster filled sandbags, boarded up buildings, tied down anything that could blow away, secured sources of water, protected anything electronic, and even collected trash: “When it comes to bulk refuse [re-fuuss, as in trash, not ree-fyuse as in reject], we keep our typhoon cage open through Tropical Typhoon Condition of Readiness 2 so that any trash that isn’t contracted for pickup can be disposed of.”-Sergeant Shane Holum, Camp Services

Trident of Poseidon: NATO’s new U.S. HQ fully operational!

“The survival of NATO and the success or failure in combat in a future war in Europe, will largely depend on the success or failure of this command.”-General Mark Milley, U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff (sounding a little paranoid)

In 2018, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO, which has become a global military since the end of the Cold War) announced that it would establish a new headquarters (HQ) in Norfolk, Virginia.  On 15JUL2021, NATO declared that HQ fully operational (Full Operational Capability).

U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Video, opening ceremonies where it’s admitted that NATO is more than just a military organization:

Essentially, NATO felt threatened by Russia and decided to create new ‘secondary’ military HQs outside of Europe, far away from Russia.   NATO’s Atlantic and European operations can now be directed from Virginia.

In this DoD video it becomes obvious that NATO considers itself a ‘christian’ organization:

In September 2020, NATO announced Initial Operational Capacity for its Norfolk HQ.  It is officially known as Joint Force Command (JFC) Norfolk, and is one of three JFCs around the world, it is the only JFC in North America.  All the JFCs report to the Supreme Allied Commander Europe in Casteau, Belgium.  In other words, a military HQ commanded by officials based in Europe is now located in the United States.

DoD video, U.S. Army General Mark Milley admits the seven-decades old U.S.-NATO alliance is about maintaining global dominance (“established international order”) by the ‘West’ under the guise of preventing a Third World War:

U.S. Navy photo by Petty Officer Second Class Joshua M. Tolbert, 23JUN2021.

JFC Norfolk hosts military personnel from 19 ‘allied’ nations and two ‘partner’ nations.  In June 2021, NATO’s Theater Component Commanders, and leaders from national headquarters around the Atlantic Rim, converged on JFC Norfolk to discuss ways to coordinate military activities: “The security environment has changed; it is more critical than ever that we, the military leaders within NATO, continue to reinforce our commitment achieving our shared visions. The strength of our nations is inherently linked and the security and stability of the Alliance depends on it.”-Vice Admiral Andrew Lewis, JFC Norfolk (sounding a little paranoid)

Disaster 2021: U.S. military responds to German flood, knew flood was imminent

As of 19JUL2021, more than 150, and almost 1-thousand-3-hundred missing or unaccounted for after a devastating flood along the German-Belgian border.  People working on a U.S. Air Force base, and a U.S. Army garrison, responded as soon as local governments issued the call for help: “A sign of the German-American friendship that is alive in our region.”-Peter Schneider, German Federal Parliamentarian

Three months worth of rain fell in just three days, causing all the rivers to flood.  Yet personnel on a U.S. air base knew it was coming: “We knew the rain was coming so we were preparing to secure the base, which we did….  ….Our fence extends past this whole base. They are our neighbors. So if they are in need, whether it’s fire, whether it’s flooding, whatever happens, were are just here 24/7.”-Technical Sergeant Isaac Brenyah, 52nd Civil Engineer Squadron, Spangdahlem Air Base

About 1-thousand-8-hundred sandbags were delivered to the communities of Binsfeld and Neiderkail.  It wasn’t just the 52nd CES that responded: “People came out to support and I have no clue what squadron or flight they belonged to because they were in civilian clothes, but I just want to give a big shout out to everyone.”-Technical Sergeant Isaac Brenyah, 52nd Civil Engineer Squadron

It is not only one of the largest construction projects ever for NAVFAC, it is considered the first ‘innovative contingency contract’: “This contract encompasses cutting-edge procedures geared to unique rapid response/emergency missions. NAVFAC will deliver on its promise to provide contingency construction support, surge to meet emerging requirements, and provide the necessary capability and flexibility to support the Navy’s mission in today’s ever changing world.”-Linda Stein, NAVFAC Contract Specialist

In August 2019, at least 230 businesses vied for NAVFAC contracts to rebuild Marine Corps facilities damaged by Hurricane Florence. Photo by Mike Andrews.

NAVFAC Atlantic officials also stated that the global project is necessary to provide an immediate response for civilian construction contract capability.  The Naval Construction Force contractors must also be able to perform under emergency situations.  Each individual innovative contingency contract must be completed by July 2029.
