Skyrocketing ammo sales, blame the government!

A new study shows ammunition sales in the United States have skyrocketed to the point where 48.9% of ammo is imported from other countries, and that counts only the imports that come in by ship!

Main stream U.S. news media are blaming individual gun owners, but wait a minute, what about all those record level ammo purchases by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security?

Of course the research company that made the survey is based in anti-2nd Amendment New York City, it’s called Panjiva, a “trade data company” founded in 2006.  It should be noted that Panjiva uses ‘third party sources’ for their info, and it supposedly traced only shipments by boat into the U.S.

In 2012, Business Insider revealed that Homeland Security (DHS) was buying 175-million rounds of .223 caliber (5.56mm, used in AR-15/M16/M4 type assault rifles) and 450 million rounds of a special made .40 caliber Smith & Wesson bullet for pistols.

In 2013, Associated Press revealed that DHS was buying 1.6-billion rounds of ammo!

In February 2014, the Government Accounting Office claimed the DHS had reduced the amount of ammo purchases since 2009, but also revealed that “DHS’s ammunition purchases over the 6-year period equates to an average of 1,200 rounds purchased per firearm-carrying agent or officer per year.”

In 2015, a federal government contracting site revealed that DHS/Customs and Boarder Protection wanted to buy “….approximately 12,600,000 (12.6 million) rounds of .223 Rem training ammunition per year, totaling 62,500,000 (62.5 million) over the life of the contract.” 

There’s speculation that federal government hoarding of ammo is causing ammo shortages for gun owning citizens:

Government & Corporate Incompetence: Idaho man discovers you can hack into medical implants

Idahoan, Jay Radcliffe, discovered you can hack into and remotely control a person’s medical implants.

He recently demonstrated to government officials by hacking into his own implanted insulin pump.

The problem is that wireless implants are supposed to be regulated to prevent such a thing.  The U.S. Food and Drug administration recently warned implant makers of a similar problem.

Federal lawmakers asked the Government Accountability Office to investigate the Federal Communications Commission.  The FCC is responsible for making sure all radio communication devices are in compliance with regulations.

GAO study shows U.S. companies that get taxpayer money owe $750 million in back taxes

The Government Accountability Office released a study that showed that some of the government contractors that got paid with taxpayer “stimulus” money, don’t pay taxes.

The GAO says 3,700 contractors who got stimulus money, owe back taxes.  That’s about 5% of the contractors that got the taxpayer money.  Some of the contractors that avoided paying taxes include construction companies and companies that specialize in social services.

While 5% may not seem like much, the GAO says that 5% owes $750 million in back taxes.
