Exceptional Failed State: U.S. job losses & store closings 11 September 2013. Thousands more laid off in one day! More Obama Care hospital shut downs? More greedy landlords!

Incomplete list of announced closings and layoffs.

Too Big to Jail Citigroup announced it will layoff 2-thousand 2-hundred more of its own evil minions!  They blame it own declining demand in home loans.  That’s what you get for robo-signing my perfect credit into the shitter, you SOBs!

Alabama: In Courtland, International Paper shut down one of their paper mills.  1-thousand 1-hundred people out-o-work!  Company officials blame crashing demand for paper.

Arkansas: In Little Rock, Arkansas Heart Hospital eliminated an undisclosed amount of jobs.  Rumors say at least 50 people were axed.

California:  Just one day after announcing that six evil British empire owned Fresh & Easy grocery stores would close, an announcement that another 50 will close!  The 50 stores being closed are those that were not taken over by evil Mitt Romney style vulture capitalist Yucaipa Companies.  Yucaipa owner, Ron Burkle, claims he will actually expand those Fresh & Easy stores he bought from Tesco.

Florida: What housing market recovery? In Kissimmee, landscaper Proscape laid off 127 employees! It’s blamed on the loss of a major housing contract.

Hawaii: The Kona Village Resort laid off the last of its employees.  The resort was heavily damaged by the 11 March 2011 tsunami from Japan, and the contractor that was hired to do repairs walked away from the job.

Illinois: The Chicago Transit Authority laying off 149 people!  It’s blamed on crashing revenues.  It’s also because CTA is about to implement a new payment system.  In Frankfort, Dan McGee Restaurant shut down.

Kansas: PostRock Energy laid off 17 people.  The natural gas company is being “reorganized”.

Michigan: In Lansing, reports that Sparrow Hospital is laying off employees.  In Port Huron, ITW moving ops to other states.  50 employees affected.

New Mexico:  In Albuquerque, after “30 years of blood, sweat and tears down here” Nick’s Crossroads Cafe shut down.  The owner said it was ’bout time he retired!

New York: In East Syracuse, after 50 years in business Sacks department store closed down.  In Brooklyn, Central Laundry Service shut down, 207 people unemployed!

Pennsylvania: Edinboro University warned that at least 40 jobs could be eliminated.  Courses will also be cut.  They blame declining student enrollment and state funding.  In West Chester, Bella & Betty gift store shut down.  Store owners blame the greedy landlord!  After 125 years of hoity toityness, the landmark Pottsville Club shut down.  It’s blamed on the loss of 500 members since 1998, and 100 of those just since 2012!  The club is being foreclosed by Too Big to Jail banks.

Texas: In Houston, a Landry’s Seafood restaurant closed.  The greedy property owner revoked the lease, so all the buildings can be torn down for new retail shops!

Virginia: The Roanoke Times reported they laid off 31 employees. It’s blamed on declining sales.

West Virginia:  Patriot Coal shutting down their Logan County mines.  250 employees affected!  Logan County officials fear it could kill off the local economy.

The U.S. Department of Labor (DoL) doesn’t count the hundreds of layoffs involving less than 50 people each, in its mass layoff reports. It also doesn’t count all the little ‘mom & pop’ businesses that shut down.
