Riots in Northern Ireland, pro English parade sparks response from those wanting independence

August 14, in Northern Ireland a pro-English Protestant parade sparked a violent response from those who still seek independence (Irish Catholics).

Northern Ireland is controlled by the United Kingdom.  Recently a report revealed that indeed the U.K. government (and thereby the Royal Family) actively supported pro-English terrorists with weapons and money in Northern Ireland, during the time of “The Troubles”.

Sunday’s Londonderry riots quickly moved to targeting police vehicles and other government vehicles.  One person described it as “sustained rioting”.

This year is starting to look like peace has ended in Northern Ireland.  This isn’t the first time a pro-English parade sparked violence, riots also broke out during the pro-English parade in Belfast.

5 year study blames U.S. society for Catholic sex crimes

A five year study, done by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, concludes that because of the promiscuous attitude of U.S. society, during the 1960s-80s, the Church let down its guard on sex abusers who became priests.

The report does say that the Church failed to enforce celibacy, and properly monitor the priests.  Also, the report says large numbers of homosexuals entered the priesthood in the 1980s.  However, it puts most of the blame on U.S. society.

Victim’s groups say the report is a sham because it is the Bishops who’ve been covering up the crimes from day one: “The Bishops are the ones who knowingly transferred predators, allowed them to remain in ministry, then covered up for them when they were found abusing, and then transferred them again to another place.”-Barbara Blaine, President of SNAP

Catholic sex crimes continue, Vatican says go directly to Police

A report from Ireland shows that sex crimes committed by Catholic leaders has continued, and actually increased.

The National Board for the Safeguarding of Children in the Catholic Church says in 2010, reported cases of sex abuse by Irish Catholic leaders increased by 38%, over 2009.

The Vatican has just released new rules for church leaders to deal with such claims.  Basically local Bishops have been ordered to report sex abuse claims to the police.  Critics point out that the new Vatican rules are useless because many of those Bishops are actually trying to cover up such crimes.
