Exceptional Failed State: U.S. job losses & store closings 08-09 January 2014. More massive grocery store shutdowns! More massive restaurant shutdowns! More massive healthcare cuts!

Incomplete list of announced closings and layoffs:

Dubbed Project Cook, British empire’s Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) announced plans to kill 20-thousand jobs around the world, including within the United States.  RBS is expected to kill its Connecticut based U.S. investment business!

Upscale Macy’s department store announced it will kill 2500 jobs this year!

 Black Hills Power shutting down three coal fired electricity factories in Wyoming and South Dakota, no word on on how many people will become jobless.

Ruby Tuesday announced they’ve lost so much money that they will close at least 30 restaurants this year!

Alabama: In Birmingham, Too Big to Jail bank BBVA Compass warned it will kill 600 jobs between now and 2016!

Arizona: After nearly 100 years the Skull Valley General Store shutdown: “…the economy has dropped off too much and the revenue isn’t there. The volume of business is down considerably. It doesn’t look like the economy will be picking up anytime soon…..revenue is down, but the expenses don’t go down!-Archy McDonald, owner

California: Icing on the Cupcake now chapter 11 busted and shutting down.  In Sebastopol, Palm Drive Hospital warned of layoffs as it plans to cut its inpatient beds to only 14.   It’s blamed on crashing revenues due to lack of business and ObamaCare cuts.  In Daly City, after 57 years highly successful restaurant Joe’s of Westlake shutdown. It’s blamed on health problems with the owner.  In Santa Maria, after 27 years the Antique Mall shutdown.  In San Luis Obispo, internet based Neuvation Cycling shutdown blaming internet competition.   In Fresno, after 37 years the Ripe Tomato restaurant shutdown. 

Illinois:  In Chicago, seller of locally made products, the Haymaker Shop, shutdown.  In Batavia, a White Castle burger joint shutdown without warning or explanation.

Indiana: Marsh Supermarkets shutdown eight grocery stores!

Kentucky: In Fort Thomas, after 12 years the singing waiter/waitress Vito’s Cafe shutdown: “….our customer counts are really down.”-Vito Ciepiel, co-owner

Maine: Only a few days after issuing layoff warnings, taxsucking Bangor international Airport laid off 25 employees, a large percentage of their total employees.  Airport officials admitted it was because the U.S. military cut their usage of the airport by 55%.

Massachusetts: Wareham School District warned of massive restructuring and layoffs for the 2014-15 school year.  The District is short $2.4-million USD!

Michigan:  The Detroit Free Press laid off five employees, blamed on crashing revenues.  I wounder why they call it “Free” if it runs on money?  In Grand Blanc, Inalfa Roof Systems shutdown, 52 jobs lost.

Minnesota:  The number one provider for in-office BPH therapy, Urologix, warned of layoffs due to ObamaCare cuts.  ObamaCare cuts in treatment funding will cause Urologix to lose $1.5-million!   In Twin Cities, Rainbow Foods shutdown two more grocery stores.  Company officials blame the suck ass economic for its ongoing store closures: “The economic downturn over the last few years, coupled with an increased competitive footprint from the likes of Walmart and others, has made it hard to control costs and remain competitive in the geographies where we have closed stores.”-James Hyland, Roundy, vice president of investor relations and corporate communications

Missouri: In Kansas City, after 28 years Kabuki Japanese Restaurant shutdown.  The property owners claim the restaurant hadn’t been paying its rent!

Montana: In Missoula, after 15 years the Frenchtown Family Medicine clinic shutdown. It’s connected to Providence Health and Services plans to become more efficient in the face of funding cuts caused by ObamaCare.

Nevada: Valley Health laid off 33 employees, blaming it on decreased demand and ObamaCare funding cuts.

New York:  Too Big to Jail First Niagara bank continues it shutdown, this time 170 people get kicked to the street!  In Great Neck, La Gioconda restaurant shutdown.  In Brooklyn, God was no match for ObamaCare as Interfaith Medical Center announced it will shutdown and kill 1405 jobs, due to funding cuts!  In Rochester, Macy’s Medley Center Store shutdown, 82 jobs lost.

North Carolina:  Triad Adult and Pediatric Medicine laid off 35 employees, including seven doctors. Officials blamed it on everything from bad weather to ObamaCare.

Oklahoma: The Shawnee Mall Sears shutting down.

Oregon:  C&K Markets chapter 11 busted!  At least 15 of their Ray’s, Shop Mart and LoBucks grocery stores shutdown!

Pennsylvania:  In North Coventry Township, Ross Dress For Less shutdown, company officials refused to say why.

South Dakota: In Sioux Falls, Todd’s Neutralizer shutdown.

Texas:  In Waco, taxsucker L-3 Platform Integration laid off 150 people!  Company officials blamed it on reduced tax spending by the U.S. Department of Defense.  In Frisco, Lone Star Baby & Kids store shutdown.  In Nacogdoches, Sav-A-Lot grocery store shutdown amid rumors the New York based property owner jacked up the rent.

05-07 January 2014. More internet companies bite the dust!

The U.S. Department of Labor (DoL) doesn’t count the hundreds of layoffs involving less than 50 people each, in its mass layoff reports. It also doesn’t count all the little ‘mom & pop’ businesses that shut down.
