Alabama: In Birmingham, Tavern on the Summit shutdown.
California: Several Gilly Hicks clothing stores shutdown, 185 jobs lost! In Hesperia, after 15 years the Big!Lots rip off store shutdown. In La Mirada, Red Robin restaurant shutdown, 72 jobs lost. In Los Angeles, NBCUniversal laid off another two employees. In San Francisco/Oakland, Alta Bates Summit Medical Center announced the death of 358 jobs and the shutdown of an inpatient infusion center! Hospital officials blame declining use and ObamaCare funding cuts. In San Francisco, the Huntington Hotel & Nob Hill Spa shutdown, 115 jobs lost! In Newhall, the Fresh clothing store shutdown. In San Diego, after 87 years Furs by Graf shutdown. In El Segundo, the Doubletree Hilton hotel shutdown, 90 jobs lost.
Florida: In Miramar, Comcast cable laid off 84 employees.
Georgia: In Albany, the Holley House Furniture store died.
Idaho: After 35 years the Jerome Cinema shutdown, management refused to say why.
Illinois: In Chicago, after 25 years the Uncle Fun Toy Store shutdown.
Indiana: In Warsaw, PolyOne Designed Structures and Solutions shutdown, 110 jobs lost!
Kansas: British empire Canadian company Bombardier killed 350 Yankee jobs at its LearJet factory in Wichita! This is on top of the 200 laid off in December! The Sears in Hutchinson shutting down.
Maryland: In Frederick, the Tuesday Morning closeout store closed out after only three years in business. Company officials implied the landlord kicked them out. In Landover, the Sears shutdown.
Michigan: God didn’t stop his Marine City United Methodist Church from shutting down. Church official blamed it on a lack of willing ‘believers’.
Minnesota: The Napa Valley Grille in the Mall of America shutdown.
New Mexico: In Santa Fe, after 26 years Christine’s Bridal and Formal Wear shop shutdown.
New York: In Elmherst, the Pan American Hotel shutdown, 45 jobs lost. In NYC, Pulino’s Bar & Pizzeria shutdown, 83 jobs lost. Barnes & Noble College Booksellers shutdown, 56 jobs lost. In Wilson, First Niagara bank shutdown. In Oswegatchie, Aubuchon Hardware shutdown: “The store was our lowest volume store in the company’s chain and there was no sales growth there at all.”-Danny Aubuchon, COO
Ohio: Three Tumbleweed Tex Mex Grill & Margarita Bars shutdown, 150 jobs lost!
Oregon: Internet outdoor clothing retailer, Altrec, now chapter 11 busted. Company officials claim they never recovered from a 2011 cyber attack.
Pennsylvania: In Frackville, the Schuylkill Valley Sports store shutting down after 24 years. In Pittsburgh, Momo Japanese restaurant shutdown.
Tennessee: In Frayser, after 59 years Kroger grocery store at 3226 Thomas shutdown, 52 jobs lost.
Texas: In Austin, software company Macheen laid off an undisclosed number of employees, and fired the CEO! In Wichita Falls, Pasqual Restaurant shutdown, the owner said the suck ass economy was the reason. In Borger, Hastings books-n-video shutdown, 35 jobs lost.
Virginia: In North Stafford, Sears Hometown shutdown.
West Virginia: In Valley Grove, West Point Products shutdown and moved to Pennsylvania.
Wisconsin: Three Kmart stores close in April, 314 jobs lost! In Montello, Glen Oak Lumber & Milling shutdown, 43 jobs lost.

The U.S. Department of Labor (DoL) doesn’t count the hundreds of layoffs involving less than 50 people each, in its mass layoff reports. It also doesn’t count all the little ‘mom & pop’ businesses that shut down.
