Idaho Militia continues expansion, to reduce costs? It’s just the “first of many”!

On 06JUL2023, the Idaho Army Nation Guard broke ground on a new Readiness Center, in Twin Falls, Jerome County.  Officially, this is part of a state and federal taxpayer funded ‘expansion’ that is actually meant to reduce the number of Armories in the geographically spread out state of Idaho, from 23 down to just nine: “This is part of a national readiness center master plan where we consolidate units so we’re more efficient in maintaining facilities. We’re basically going to decrease from 23 facilities across the state to nine regional readiness centers.”– Colonel Dennis Stitt, Idaho Army National Guard 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team (CBCT)

According to local news reports, the new Jerome County Regional Readiness Center will cost at least $23-million, and take two years to complete. The new facility will house the 116th Brigade Engineer Battalion (which is already headquartered in Twin Falls) and the 145th Brigade Support Battalion (currently headquartered in Lewiston).

The Idaho National Guard stated that this new ‘consolidated’ facility is the “first of many” intended to reduce the long term costs of logistics.  The 116th CBCT (aka Snake River Brigade) has units spread across Idaho, Montana, Nevada and Oregon.

The 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team (aka Snake River Brigade, one of my military alma maters) is Idaho’s largest Army National Guard unit. The brigade is located in more than 20 Idaho communities as well as units in Montana, Nevada and Oregon.  The 2-116th Cavalry Regiment is headquartered in Caldwell with units in Emmett and Nampa.

In February 2023, the 2-116th Cavalry Regiment took part in what is called Dragon Defender 2023, on Camp Buehring in Kuwait.  It wasn’t just the Idaho Army National Guard, the 272nd Chemical Company-79th Troop Command of the Massachusetts Army National Guard was also present: “I love CBRN [Chemical Biological Radioactive Nuclear]. I love that it’s not just one thing; there are so many aspects to it. It’s not just putting on your gas mask and going to a CS [Crowd Suppression gas, aka tear gas] chamber or checking your mask.”-Warrant Officer Kelly Osmon, Massachusetts Army National Guard

Dragon Defender included Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) training, specifically involving mounted reconnaissance, extraction and decontamination of victims.  WMD also includes explosives, and the Arizona Army National Guard was there to cover that aspect: “Being EOD [Explosive Ordinance Disposal], our job is to clear the scene of any explosive hazards. A lot of scenarios with CBRN weapons there will be booby traps or dispersal devices with explosives in them. That’s our forte.”-Specialist Tyler Blackmore, 363rd Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company-158th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, Arizona Army National Guard

The USAF hopes this is a way of addressing the collapsing recruiting numbers: “This is the toughest it’s been in a long time for both active duty and Air National Guard recruiting. So far, only two other states have USAF/Air National Guard Total Force Recruiting Offices; Illinois and Georgia.

Denton Program Failure 2023: USAID gave Guatemala nuclear ‘sources’?

One of two Cobalt-60 ‘sources’ found in Guatemala. Defense Threat Reduction Agency photo by Andrea Chaney.

On 22MAY2023, United States Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) revealed that several months prior they had discovered that the Central American country of Guatemala had at least two ‘sources’ of Cobalt-60!

A Cobalt ‘source’ being loaded into a shipping container. DTRA photo by Andrea Chaney.

Apparently, the Cobalt-60 was part of a previous USAID-Denton Program ‘donation’ to the Liga Nacional Contra el Cáncer/Instituto de Cancerología (National League Against Cancer/Cancer Institute) in Guatemala City.

Cobalt-60 is mainly used in medical applications, and some food irradiation, but has also been proposed for use in a ‘dirty’ nuclear bomb to enhance the radioactive fallout.

In April 2023, Guatemala’s Ministry of Energy and Mines, and the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DoE) National Nuclear Security Administration, worked together to remove not one, but two ‘sources’ of Cobalt-60, and send it back to the U.S. of A.

Through the U.S. Southern Command, the U.S. Air Force loaded two C-130J cargo planes (which had just dropped off ‘backlogged’ USAID-Denton Program giveaways) with the large containers of highly radioactive Cobalt-60.

The Denton Humanitarian Assistance Program is not an independent charity but a taxpayer/’donation’ funded operation of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and Agency for International Development (USAID). It is also known as Denton Cargo Program or Denton Program, and was started in 1987, after a 1985 change to Title 10 United States Code.  It allows private charities to use space-available on taxpayer funded U.S. military aircraft to deliver their humanitarian supplies, mainly to Central American countries, ostensibly to improve the quality of life in those countries so the people don’t try to move to the U.S.  Obviously it is a failure.

End of Cold War to Ukraine Crisis: Those decades when U.S. taxpayers supplied Russia with USAID!

USAID photo, date and location not given.

According to U.S. federal government sources, the official date of the collapse of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), and the end of the undeclared Cold War, was December 1991. But even before that, in December 1990, the United States had begun distributing taxpayer funded humanitarian aid to the Soviet Union, via the U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Project HOPE (Health Opportunities for People Everywhere).

USAID photo, date and location not given, but you can see by the 1980s Ford pick-up marked with the Marriott Hotel logo that it’s possibly somewhere in the U.S.

Russian Ilyushin Il-76 (NATO reporting name Candid) cargo planes were allowed onto U.S. territory to be loaded with Project HOPE supplies. I assume that the USAID photos seen here are from the December 1990 to December 1991 period, as the planes still carry the flag of the Soviet Union on their tails.

Tail-end of Russian Il-76 filled with Project HOPE supplies. USAID photo.

I discovered that USAID itself does not talk about the deliveries to the USSR during the last year of the Cold War, referring only to the former republics (like Russia), or the ‘former’ Soviet Union, when talking about their taxpayer funded deliveries.

U.S. taxpayer funded aid increased in 1992, due to the Freedom for Russia and Emerging Eurasian Democracies and Open Markets Support Act.

USAID began their official involvement with Ukraine in 1992.

In August 1995, the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) published assessments of several USAID operations inside Russia.  It revealed that “Hundreds of U.S. contractors and grantees are responsible for implementing individual projects in the 13 sectors.” Also that “USAID did not adequately manage some projects it funded. The devolution of management and monitoring responsibility from USAID’s Washington office to its Moscow office delayed decision-making and created confusion among contractors. Furthermore, USAID’s management information systems were inadequate, and it did not adequately monitor or coordinate some projects.”

In September 2012 (the year the Ukraine Crisis actually began, the coup taking place in 2014), USAID announced they were halting their Russian operations at the request of the Russian government. Russia accused USAID of funding/supplying Russian rebels.

Project HOPE was created during the early years of the Cold War, in 1958, by the United States. Its mission statement was to help poorer countries with healthcare needs.

U.S. Disaster: Hurricane Citadel Gale aims for the U.S. Navy!

If you live in the Washington DC area get ready for Hurricane Citadel Gale, the U.S. Navy (USN) says it is going to make landfall between April 24th and May 5th!

Don’t worry, it’s part of the USN’s yearly Tropical Cyclone Condition of Readiness (TCCOR) preparations, it is actually called Hurricane Exercise/Citadel Gale 2023 (HURREX/CG).

It’s also important to prepare the Navy Family and Accountability System (NFAAS): “NFAAS is an essential resource for locating Navy personnel and family members during crisis or natural disasters to ensure they’re safe. And the resources available to our Navy families to help them be prepare for a disaster can literally save their lives in a disaster.”– Captain Derrick Kingsley, Naval Air Station Patuxent River

U.S. Hunger Games: More proof the Pandemic was about the Military controlling Food access!

16 April 2023 (12:31-UTC-07 Tango 06) 27 Farvardin 1402/25 Ramadan 1444/26 Bing-Chen 4721/16 апреля 2023 года

During the Pandemic (if there ever was actually a pandemic), the U.S. Department of Defense launched food distribution operations, handled by state National Guard units, because state and federal government imposed Pandemic lockdowns and mandates had disrupted civilian food supply operations!

In West Virginia, the National Guard built a food warehouse that is still in operation.  However, on 12APR2023, the operation of the National Guard owned food warehouse was contracted-out to the main civilian food bank operations in the Mountain State; Mountaineer Food Bank and Facing Hunger Food Bank.

The West Virginia National Guard’s Rock Branch warehouse has been renamed Hunger Free West Virginia Cooler.

Photo via Office of the Governor of West Virginia, 12APR2023.

West Virginia’s Governor also announced a $10-million taxpayer funded account (called Posey Perry Emergency Food Bank Bucket) for the two food banks to draw from: “This incredible cooler and the Emergency Bucket are going to help feed a lot of people, but it’s still not enough.”-Jim Justice, Governor of West Virginia

“Governor Justice has been our biggest fan at the Food Bank, helping us through the pandemic and combatting this hunger crisis. We thank him so much for his continued support to make sure nobody in West Virginia goes to bed hungry.”-Chad Morrison, Mountaineer Food Bank

A local news report revealed that the civilian food bank operators needed the National Guard food warehouse because they were getting overwhelmed with food, even though they’ve purchased additional storage space of their own: “Both Mountaineer and Facing Hunger are expanding partnerships with local producers. Suddenly, we’ll be able to provide some storage for product and purchase more from them because we do have the availability to store it.”-Cyndi Kirkhart, Facing Hunger Food Bank

This revelation means a couple of things; there is no food shortage, and West Virginia is experiencing (or expecting) skyrocketing numbers of people who now qualify for food provided by charities!

It also suggests the National Guard cannot continue providing personnel for food distribution operations.  Future war, expected natural disasters, crashing recruitment?

Global Warming? Record snow for April dumps on Power & Bannock counties!

Dog Day Snowfall

On 04APR2023, the U.S. National Weather service reported record level snow on the Pocatello Airport, which is located in Power County (not Bannock County, as a lot of people mistake), “Last year, out at the Pocatello Airport, we have around 33 inches through April 3.  This year, we have 65.1 inches.”-Vernon Preston, National Weather Service

Had to dig out the buried snow shovel.

But record levels of snow also hit Bannock County, where I live.  According to the National Weather Service, the cities of Chubbuck and Pocatello (both in Bannock County) got at least 19 inches of snow.  Since 01APR2023, several towns and cities through out East Idaho and Southeast Idaho set new snow records.

U.S. Hunger Games: ‘Woke’ U.S. Air Force creates Mobile Food Pantry for its Airmen!

30 March 2023 (09:52-UTC-07 Tango 06) 10 Farvardin 1402/08 Ramadan 1444/09 Yi-Mao(2nd month) 4721/30 марта 2023 года

When I first enlisted in the U.S. military, in 1982, I got a whoping $6-hundred per month as an E1!  Today, in 2023, the Defense Financing and Accounting Service reports that an E1 gets paid $1-thousand-917 per month!  And don’t forget the extra pay; basic allowance for subsistence (BAS, aka food), clothing allowance, aviation incentive pay, submarine duty, dive duty, foreign language, hardship duty, hazardous duty, imminent danger pay, exemption from FICA taxes if on active duty for more than 30 days, health professions bonuses, muster duty allowance, ROTC allowance, exempt from paying taxes while in a combat zone!

Did you notice the BAS (food)?  That is correct, the Department of Defense already pays military personnel extra for food (where food is not available on-base, or when living off-base), the BAS rate for enlisted personnel is $452 per month.  But wait, there is more, they have a BAS-2 rate, which is now at $905 per month!  When I got married in the mid-1980s, the most I got from the BAS was $2-hundred, and no USAF supplied food pantries then!

Amazingly, even with extra pay specifically for food, the Department of Defense claims that 24% of active-duty military personnel are food insecure, wow!!!

U.S. Air Force photo, Hurlburt Air Force Base, Florida, 24FEB2023.

So why then has the U.S. Air Force begun its first ever mobile food pantry truck service specifically for its own Airmen?  Hurlburt Field Air Force Base, in sunny Florida, began its Hurlburt Field Mobile Food Pantry service in February 2023.

The USAF is using a food truck operated by an organization called Feeding the Gulf Coast (part of the covert military operation known as Feeding America), volunteers with the Hurlburt Field Mobile Food Pantry say they handed out 5-thousand pounds of food last month.  And apparently it is a once per month event, every fourth Friday of every month, unless it is a holiday.  All Airmen and their families, regardless of rank, will not be turned away: “We’ll put the food in their car, and they can go about their merry way.”-Mauli Patel, volunteer

U.S. Air Force photo, Hurlburt Air Force Base, Florida, 24FEB2023.

The Hurlburt Field Mobile Food Pantry is in addition to the regular brick-n-mortar (in the base chapel) food pantry operations on the base.

Is this proof the United States is in much worse economic shape than officials are admitting to, or, are ‘woke’ military personnel just fat and spoiled?
