Professor who wanted Bush Jr impeached now demands the same for Obama, but it will fail because it’s faulty

Remember the U.S. professor that wanted Bush Jr impeached?  Probably not. Now Professor Francis Boyle wants Obama impeached.  It’s basically for the same reason, war mongering and war crimes and failing to get congressional approval.

The problem is that the calls for impeaching Obama are faulty, because they claim Obama violated the U.S. Constitution by not getting the permission of Congress.  Reality check here, the President of the U.S. does NOT need the consent of Congress to send in military forces; it’s called the War Powers Act!

In my college days I was amazed how many Political Science students were ignorant of this fact (including graduate students).  The War Powers Act (aka War Powers Resolution of 1973) gives the President authority to sends troops anywhere in the world WITHOUT concessional consent.  The President simply has to make periodic progress reports to Congress, to avoid being impeached.

The Act was created after President Johnson (also a Democrat) failed to get congressional approval for going to war in Vietnam, but sent U.S. troops in anyway.  President Johnson increased U.S. forces in Vietnam, WITHOUT a congressional declaration of war.  That’s right, the ten years we were in Vietnam, it was never an officially, congressionally declared war!  By the way, check the history of war carried out by the U.S., you could be surprised how many were never congressionally declared.

Many sources, on the internet (Even the information on WikiPedia is faulty), and college professors, incorrectly state that the War Powers Act prevents the President from sending troops to war.  No it does not!  It prevents the DECLARATION of war without the consent of Congress.  It is legalese that actually makes it easier for the President to send troops into COMBAT.

Here’s the basic rules of the War Powers Act: President notifies Congress within 48 hours of military action (at this point Congress has no say).  After 60 days the President makes a progress report to Congress.  If Congress doesn’t agree with the President, they can try to hold a vote to order troops out.  If there is no resistance from Congress, the President is simply required to make periodic progress reports.

Another misunderstanding is the belief that Congress needs to “approve” the military action.  Historically, as long as Congress does not “oppose” the military action, then the president is off the hook.  Not ‘opposing’ the action is not the same as ‘approving’ the action.

Historically, Congress going against the President is a rare occasion.  It happened under President Clinton, after the fiasco in Somalia.  It’s funny that right wingers accuse Clinton of being weak, but it was actually the Congress that used the War powers Act to override Clinton and pull out the troops.

Bottom line; the President actually has 60 days to do what ever in regards to military action anywhere in the world.  Then the President must convince Congress that the action is justified, or at least prevent members of Congress from opposing it.  Historically Congress doesn’t counter the President.

If you’re looking to impeach the President, stop trying to use the War powers Act, it actually supports the President.

Here we go, Obama’s anti-Syria speech (rewritten anti-Libya speech), now sanctions against Syria, get ready

After President Obama’s anti-Syrian speech, that was so similar to his anti-Libyan speech that it had to be a rewrite, he now is calling for sanctions.  I told you…

White House spokesman Jay Carney said on Monday, April 25, the U.S. is pursuing a range of possible options, including targeted sanctions, such as freezing assets held by senior Syrian leaders.  Can you say “cookie cutter” war policy?

U.S. nuke plant shut down because of failed electronics, another nuke plant down because of grass

Last week reactor 1 of Plant Vogtle nuclear plant, near Waynesboro, Georgia, shut down, on 20 April 2011, without explanation.  Company officials say they are replacing a breaker and other electronic equipment.  They don’t know why the equipment failed.

In Delaware, on 21 April 2011, the Salem 1 nuclear reactor was shut down because of grass.  The Salem plant is along the Delaware river, and plants periodically grow over the water intakes of the nuke plant.  Salem 1 had to be shut down because the plant growth was blocking cooling water from coming into the reactor.  Officials say it’s back on line now.

Surprisingly, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission says unexpected shutdowns of nuclear reactors happen every year.

Obama opposes Palestinians

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the Obama administration is against efforts by the Palestinians to bring the issue of statehood to the United Nations for a vote.

Clinton demanded they return to negotiations with Israelis. But former U.S. secretary of state Henry Kissinger said it’s unlikely negotiations will work: “At the present moment it is very difficult for most of the Arab states to give reliable guarantees because they are in great turmoil themselves.”

Subaru says Israeli ad, of Israeli settler running over Palestinians, is a fake but the video is real

23 April 2011

Recently Subaru of America responded to complaints about an Israeli advertisement, in which the head of a property development company runs over Palestinian kids, who’re protesting their land being taken, with his new Subaru.

Subaru of America said they think the ad “…is fake”.  Even if the ad is fake,  the video of the actual incident is all over the internet.

The incident took place in 2010, you can clearly see the Zionist is driving a Subaru (outside the U.S. Subaru is known as Fuji Heavy Industries):

SUBARU DISOWNS ISRAELI ADVERTISMENT SHOWING PALESTINIANS BEING RUN OVER BY SUBARU CAR

9/11 First Responders & Survivors considered Terroists under new Health Care law

In January, 2011, President Obama signed into law a bill passed by Congress, supposedly to give 9/11/2001 emergency first responders, survivors and other people involved with the recovery and clean up efforts, health care for problems connected to the toxic debris of the the collapsed World Trade Center.  Those people are now considered terrorists.

The law is called the “James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010” (aka HR 847).

Any first responder interested in receiving medical care under the new law must be investigated by the Department of Homeland Security for links to known terrorists:  “No individual who is on the terrorist watch list maintained by the Department of Homeland Security shall qualify as an eligible WTC responder. Before enrolling any individual as a WTC responder in the WTC Program under paragraph (3), the Administrator, in consultation with the Secretary of Homeland Security, shall determine whether the individual is on such list.”-H.R. 847,  SEC. 3311  paragraph 5

In regards to ‘survivors’: “No individual who is on the terrorist watch list
maintained by the Department of Homeland Security shall qualify as a screening-eligible WTC survivor or a certifiedeligible WTC survivor. Before determining any individual to be a screening-eligible WTC survivor under paragraph (1) or certifying any individual as a certified eligible WTC survivor
under paragraph (2), the Administrator, in consultation with the Secretary of Homeland Security, shall determine whether the individual is on such list.”- H.R. 847, SEC. 3321 paragraph 4

Even if you think forcing applicants to go through a terrorist background check is OK, when you read the complicated law it becomes clear that what the Federal government is doing is trying to make it as difficult as possibly for any 9/11 first responder, or survivor, to qualify for medical help.  In other words, yet another lie from our government to our citizens.

Subaru disowns Israeli advertisment showing Palestinians being run over by Subaru car

22 April 2011

“Nobody will stand against you! Subaru!”

In a response to complaints about an Israeli ad that shows Palestinian teens being hit by an Israeli driving a Subaru (made by Fuji Heavy Industries),  U.S. Subaru officials claim Subaru had nothing to do with the ad.

“Thank you for taking the time to contact Subaru of America.  We appreciate you bringing your concern to our attention.

We are the distributor of new Subaru products for the United States only.  We believe that this to be a fake advertisement.  This posting has been brought to the attention of the manufacturer of Subaru vehicles.  Please bear with Subaru while we attempt to locate the source and to have it removed.

Thank you for bringing this to Subaru’s attention.

Sincerely,

John J. Mergen
Subaru of America, Inc.”

It was China’s Xinhua News that first reported the advertisement.  It’s intersting that even though Subaru is a Japanese brand, made by Fuji Heavy Industries, people upset by the advertisment complained to the Subaru of America office!

Obama considering sending food to North Korea

After giving a speech that implied that social programs for citizens of the U.S., such as Food Stamps, would have to be cut, President Obama is considering sending food to North Korea.

U.S. Special Envoy, Robert King, made the announcement in response to the UN World Food Program’s call for 430,000 tons of food aid to North Korea.  The United States canceled food aid about two years ago, because of North Korea’s nuclear weapons program.

Planned Texas Nuke Plant, Abandoned

A company that was going to build two reactors in Texas, abandoned the plan.

NRG Energy, in cooperation with Toshiba, was planning on building two reactors in Texas. The company now says the investment environment has become too risky to continue with the plans.  They will now write off U.S.$ 481 million on their taxes, for the canceled project.

Texas fire 1 million+ Acres, Texas asks Obama for help

I used to live in Texas, back in the mid 1980s, and asking the Federal government for anything was a dishonorable thing to do, if you’re from Texas.  I guess things are pretty bad if Texas Governor Rick Perry is asking President Obama for help.

“Texas is reaching its capacity to respond to these emergencies and is in need of federal assistance. I urge President Obama to approve our request quickly.”-Rick Perry, Texas Governor

One person has been arrested for starting one of the fires, near Austin.

Because of bad weather conditions, drought and winds, it looks like the fires will get worse: “It doesn’t look good, going into the season, to already have a fire this size, without any rain in sight.”-Chris Morris, National Weather Service.

Texas Forest Service officials say conditions are still explosive.  The fire is now burning residential areas.  Officials say, as of April 17, the fires have burned one million acres (404,685 hectares)
