Alabama: The U.S. Army Fleet Support to layoff as many as 300 people at Fort Rucker, before xmas!  It was revealed by labor unions.  The aircraft maintenance contracts are based on the flying hours of Army aircraft, and since flying hours have been drastically cut (by 49-thousand hours) to save taxpayer money it follows that people will lose their jobs.

New Jersey: Freefall Adventures skydiving now chapter 11 bankrupt busted, administrators blame the cost of repairs on two aircraft.

North Carolina: Poultry food producer House of Raeford announced they’re shutting down their turkey cooking factory by Xmas, 400 jobs lost! Company administrators say the cost to process turkeys for grocery stores has skyrocketed 250% since last year, and they know customers are not willing to pay for it! 08-09 October 2014

The U.S. Department of Labor (DoL) doesn’t count the hundreds of layoffs involving less than 50 people each, in its mass layoff reports. It also doesn’t count all the little ‘mom & pop’ businesses that shutdown. It doesn’t count people who get a severance for being laid off.
