U.S. job losses & store closings 25 February 2014: More disappearing students! More ObamaCare job cuts! IBM launches job killing Project Apollo!

Incomplete list of announced closings & layoffs.

What housing market recovery?  Too Big to Jail, JPMorgan Chase killing 6-thousand jobs relating to mortgage refinancing!  The big bank says the market for home mortgages is crashing.  The big bank is also killing 2-thousand jobs relating to credit card services!  8-thousand jobs lost by the end of 2014!

California: In Santa Monica, Japan based Sony admitted they laid off 40 employees at their video game operation.

Florida: In Jacksonville, Connecticut based envelope company Cenveo laying off 133 employees by the end of May!  It’s connected to Cenveo’s take over of National Envelope.

Idaho: In Coeur d’Alene, Office Depot announced it will shutdown in May.  It’s blamed on the merger with Office Max.

Illinois: In Chicago, after only five years Bellybum Boutique baby supply store shutdown.

Indiana:  Indiana Limestone shutting down, 166 jobs lost!  The company that supplied limestone for many iconic Washington DC buildings is now bankrupt busted.  In Boston Township, after 55 years Central Furniture & Carpet shutdown.  Local news reports say it was the last retail business in town.

Kentucky: Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center laid off five employees.

New Jersey: The Newark School system warned of massive layoffs.  More than 1-thousand teachers could lose their jobs over the next three years!  School officials blame crashing revenues which are caused by disappearing students (declining enrollment).  Wawa convenience store, on Route 70 and Cooper Landing Road, shutting down in March.  Store owners say it’s not worth it to remodel in order to meet new building standards.

New York: International Business Machine (IBM) announced “workforce rebalancing” Project Apollo.  13-thousand jobs will be killed around the world, but thousands could lose their jobs in New York state!  IBM says it needs to cut jobs to save money, but at the same time IBM officials pissed and moaned about how it will cost them $70-thousand to layoff each employee!  In Brooklyn, Photoplay video store shutdown.   In Johnstown, National Freight shutting down by April, 112 jobs lost!

North Carolina: In Greensboro, after 79 years Ham’s Restaurant shutdown.  It’s blamed on the greedy property owner.

Ohio: In Middletown, after 92 years Worthmore men’s clothing store shutdown.  The family store owners say sales have crashed ever since the landlord announced plans to radically remodel the shopping center.

Pennsylvania: In Erie, HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital laid off 18 healthcare workers.  Kmart announced they will shutdown their Middletown Township store, 87 jobs lost.

South Carolina:  In Orangeburg, a Reid’s grocery store shutdown.  In Cayce, a Reid’s grocery store shutdown.  In Walterboro, a Reid’s grocery store shutdown.  In Aiken, a Bi-Lo grocery store shutdown.  All blamed on Bi-Lo Holdings take over of Delhaize America.  More grocery store shutdowns to come!

South Dakota: In Watertown, employee screening company Verifications shutting down, 120 jobs lost!  This makes the third Verifications operation to shutdown since 2012.

Texas: In Austin, HelioVolt solar panel maker shutdown.  Their Korean partner backed out.  98 jobs lost.  God refused to stop Good Shepherd Health System from closing one hospital and two clinics!  The Critical Access Hospital in Linden will close in April, as well as a clinic in Linden and a clinic in Hughes Springs.  Hospital officials directly blamed Medicare and Medicaid cuts caused by Obama Care, it was revealed the Good Shepherd Health System has lost $12-million USD.

Virginia: Kmart announced they will shutdown a north Raleigh store by May, 53 jobs lost.  Kmart will also close the Harrisonburg store in June, 79 jobs lost.  Kmart will also close the Wincester store in June, 91 jobs lost.  What housing market recovery? In Danville, modular home maker Commodore Homes shutting down in April, 100 jobs lost!

22 – 24 February 2014: Massive ObamaCare shutdown in idaho! 

The U.S. Department of Labor (DoL) doesn’t count the hundreds of layoffs involving less than 50 people each, in its mass layoff reports. It also doesn’t count all the little ‘mom & pop’ businesses that shut down.
